I. About Inner Mongolia Normal University
Founded in 1952, Inner Mongolia Normal University (IMNU) is the earliest institution of higher education established by the People’s Republic of China in an ethnic minority border region after the founding of the PRC. It is a key university in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
The University consists of 23 administrative departments, 6 teaching support units, 33 academic colleges and departments, 12 affiliated schools (including 10 jointly operated schools), and 3 affiliated kindergartens (including 1 jointly operated kindergarten).
IMNU has 2,147 faculty and staff members, including 1,464 full-time teachers, 192 doctoral supervisors, and 1,221 master’s supervisors. Among its faculty are distinguished scholars selected for national and regional talent programs, including the Changjiang Scholars Program, the National High-Level Talent Program (“Ten Thousand Talents Program”), the Inner Mongolia New Century 321 Talent Project, and the Grassland Talent Program. The University has also appointed nearly 583 renowned scholars and experts from China and abroad as academic advisors, visiting professors, and adjunct professors, including 7 members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences or the Chinese Academy of Engineering and 5 members of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Academic Divisions.
The University currently has 26,861 full-time undergraduate students, 5,395 master’s and doctoral students, and 253 international students, forming a multi-level talent cultivation system.
IMNU offers 93 undergraduate programs covering 10 academic disciplines. It is authorized to confer doctoral degrees in 9 first-level disciplines, has 3 postdoctoral research stations, offers master’s degrees in 27 first-level disciplines, and provides 18 categories of professional master’s degree programs. The University is also home to 56 provincial- and ministerial-level research platforms.
Since its establishment, the University has upheld its motto of “Dedication, Pragmatism, Unity, and Progress”, and has educated more than 320,000 graduates.
The University actively promotes internationalization and has signed 62 inter-university cooperation agreements with universities and institutions in 15 countries and regions, including Russia, Mongolia, South Korea, Japan, Australia, the United States, Belarus, the United Kingdom, and Germany. It also maintains cooperative partnerships with more than 100 well-known universities, research institutes, enterprises, and public institutions in China.
IMNU is authorized to enroll students under the Chinese Government Scholarship, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Government Scholarship, and the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship. The University has established one Confucius Institute in Russia, one Confucius Institute in Mongolia, and one Confucius Classroom in Mongolia. IMNU is also authorized to offer the Master of International Chinese Language Education program.
II. About International Exchange College
International Exchange College is the administrative unit responsible for international student education at Inner Mongolia Normal University. It is responsible for international student recruitment, visa services, accommodation arrangements, daily student affairs, Chinese language teaching, and related services.
Since its establishment in 2003, the College has enrolled more than 3,000 long-term and short-term international students from 26 countries.
The College provides an excellent learning environment supported by a highly qualified teaching team. It currently has 15 experienced teachers of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (TCFL). The College emphasizes the integration of language instruction with cultural experience. Multiple Chinese cultural experience bases have been established both on and off campus, offering a wide variety of traditional Chinese cultural activities that enable students to gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture while enhancing their language learning.
While maintaining a strong foundation in Chinese language education, the College has developed a multi-level international student education system that includes short-term non-degree students, long-term non-degree students, undergraduate students, and postgraduate students, forming a comprehensive framework for international education.
The College provides convenient study and living facilities for international students and creates a relaxed and effective learning environment. It has 10 multimedia classrooms, one library, and one Chinese Cultural Experience Room.
International students are accommodated in Student Dormitory Building No. 13. Each room is equipped with a toilet, bathroom, and water heater. Shared kitchens, a public laundry room, and self-study rooms are also available.

7. Notarized proof of financial guarantee in China (Chinese translation required)
Note:
If the applicant is under the age of 18, a notarized Letter of Guardianship for Minors (with Chinese translation) must be provided. The appointed guardian must be a Chinese citizen or a foreign national residing permanently in China and shall provide:
A copy of his/her ID card or passport;
Proof of permanent residence (such as household registration booklet, employment certificate, or certification issued by the local police station);
A signed Letter of Acceptance of Guardianship.
Note: All application materials must be submitted in duplicate. All translated documents must be notarized by a notary public.
VI. Application Period
1. Degree Programs (Self-funded)
Applications are accepted during two periods each year:
First application period: March 15 – July 5
Second application period: July 5 – August 15
2. Non-degree Programs (Including Chinese Language Programs)
Applications are accepted during three periods each year:
First application period: March 15 – July 5
Second application period: July 5 – August 15
Third application period: August 15 – November 25
3. Registration
The exact registration date shall be subject to the date specified in the Admission Letter.
VII. Application Procedures
All self-funded international students applying to Inner Mongolia Normal University should submit their applications through the University’s online application system. When selecting the admission category, applicants should choose Self-funded International Student, complete the required personal information, and upload all supporting documents as required.
