​Admission Brochure for the 2026-2027 Academic Year Chinese Government Scholarship High-Level Graduate Program

Founded in 1952, Inner Mongolia Normal University is one of the key universities in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, established as the first institution of higher education in the frontier ethnic region after the founding of the People’s Republic of China. IMNU is a comprehensive normal university with characteristic features of both teacher and ethnic education.

There are 93 subjects covering 10 disciplines in undergraduate programs, 9 first-level disciplines for doctoral degree, 2 doctoral professional degree programs, 3 post-doctoral research station, 26 first-level disciplines for master’s degree, and 18 master’s professional degree programs. With a current student enrollment of over 30,000, the university has upheld its motto of “Dedication, Truth-seeking, Unity, and Progress” over the 73 years since its founding, cultivating and delivering more than 310,000 graduates of various disciplines. Committed to open education, the university has signed inter-institutional cooperation agreements with 57 universities across 15 countries and regions, including Russia, Mongolia, South Korea, Japan, Australia, the United States, Belarus, the United Kingdom, and Germany. It has also established sound collaborative relationships with over 100 well-known domestic universities, research institutions, enterprises, and public institutions. The university has established one Confucius Institute in Russia, one Confucius Institute in Mongolia, and one Confucius Classroom in Mongolia.

The Chinese Government Scholarship “High-level Postgraduate” program is designed to finance the study of international students in China, who are with excellent academic background, outstanding professional competence, and great development potentials. IMNU will be devoted to cultivating high-level international talents, taking full advantages of disciplines.

I. Admission Categories and Duration of Scholarships

1. Admission Categories: Full-time Master’s and Doctoral Students

2. Duration:

Master’s students: The duration of specialized study is 3 academic years.

Doctoral students: The duration of specialized study is 3–4 academic years.

Note: Applicants may apply for a one-year Chinese language foundation course (for Chinese-taught majors only).

II. Scholarship Coverage

1. Tuition fees in set period

2. Free on-campus accommodation

3. Living stipend:

l Master’s students: 3,000 RMB/month;

l Doctoral students: 3,500 RMB/month.

III. Eligibility Requirements

1. Non-Chinese citizens, in good health both mentally and physically, who abide by Chinese laws and regulations as well as the university’s rules and regulations.

2. Requirements regarding age, academic qualifications, and language proficiency

(1) Applicants for master’s degree programs must hold a bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35.

(2) Applicants for doctoral degree programs must hold a master’s degree and be under the age of 40.

(3) Language Requirements: Applicants for Chinese-taught programs must have a Chinese proficiency of at least HSK Level 4 (the HSK certificate is not required for those who have obtained a degree from a Chinese university where Chinese was the medium of instruction).

3. Outstanding academic performance, meeting the university’s admission requirements in terms of academic competence, language proficiency, and other relevant aspects.

4. Outstanding current degree candidates (bachelor’s or master’s) who are expected to graduate before enrollment and who meet the above conditions are also eligible to apply.

IV. Application Documents

1. Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form (must be signed by the applicant).

2. Photocopy of passport information page. If the validity of the current passport does not meet the requirement (passport expiry date should be after September 2027), please apply for a new passport promptly.

3. Notarized highest diploma/degree certificate. If the applicant is currently a student, they must also provide an official pre-graduation certificate or current student status certificate issued by their attending school.

4. Academic transcripts (starting from the undergraduate level). Scanned transcripts should cover all study periods, including undergraduate, master’s (if applicable), and doctoral (if applicable) programs, up to the most recent semester. Transcripts must be issued and stamped by the Academic Affairs Office, Graduate School, or relevant student administration department of the attending institution. Transcripts in Chinese or English are acceptable; if in another language, a notarized English translation is required.

5. Proof of language proficiency. Applicants for Chinese-taught programs must provide an HSK Level 4 or above score report (valid within the specified period).

6. Study Plan in China (key review material). A study plan written in Chinese or English (over 1000 words) must be submitted. For doctoral applicants, the plan must be signed by the prospective Chinese supervisor. The study plan must be written in either Chinese or English.

7. Recommendation letters. Two letters of recommendation from professors or associate professors must be submitted. The content should focus on the applicant’s learning objectives in China, any cooperative relationship or inter-university exchange between the Chinese institution/supervisor and the foreign supervisor, as well as an evaluation of the student’s comprehensive abilities and future development. Letters must be written in Chinese or English only.

8. Personal works. Applicants for majors such as arts and design can upload personal creative works (e.g., videos, paintings, etc.) via the “Works/Other Supporting Materials” section in the system or provide them as required by the applying institution. Certificates of honors and proof of academic capability (if applicable).

9. Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (applicants should keep the original. This form is uniformly printed by the Chinese health and quarantine department and must be completed in English). The physical examinations must follow all the required items on Foreigner Physical Examination Form. The form is invalid if it lacks any required item, does not bear a stamped photo of the applicant or the photo seal is not embossed across the corner, or lacks the signature and seal of the attending physician and hospital. The physical examination results are valid for 6 months.

10. Non-Criminal Record Report. Applicants must submit a valid Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authorities, which should generally be issued within 6 months prior to the date of the application submission.

11. Inner Mongolia Normal University Supervisor Acceptance Letter, written in Chinese or English. This document is an optional application document and will serve as one of the priority selection materials for the Chinese Government Scholarship.

Note:

1. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by a notarized translation in Chinese or English.

2. Materials uploaded through the system must be clear, authentic, and valid. Applicants are advised to use professional equipment to scan the required documents. Consequences arising from unclear or unidentifiable materials shall be borne by the applicant.

3. Application materials will NOT be returned, regardless of admission outcome.

V. Application Procedure

Step 1:

Log in to http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn to complete the online registration. It is recommended to use the Firefox or Internet Explorer 11 browser. If using Internet Explorer, please disable the browser’s “Compatibility View” mode before proceeding.

Step 2:

Log in to the system using the registered username and password to complete the application. After logging in, click on the “Application Form” option on the top left. Under “Type of Application”, select Type B, and enter the institution code 10135 for IMNU, and click the “Save” button at the bottom right.

Step 3:

Complete the entry of all application information item by item according to the list on the left side of the application system page, and upload the supplementary materials. For the “Disciplinary Category” and “Field of Study”, please refer to the Inner Mongolia Normal University Master’s Program Catalog and Inner Mongolia Normal University Doctoral Program Catalog. Ensure the accuracy and authenticity of the information and materials provided. If there is any doubt regarding the “Disciplinary Category”, you may download the “Reference Table of Academic Programs” from the “Help” menu in the system. After verifying that all information is correctly filled, click the “Submit” button at the bottom right to complete the online application.

Step 4:

Before the application is processed, applicants can modify their submitted application by clicking the “Withdraw and Edit Application” button. After withdrawal, applicants must re-submit the application after editing; otherwise, the application will not be processed. Once the application is processed, applicants will no longer be able to withdraw it.

Step 5:

After completing the online application, click the “Print Application” button to download the system-generated Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form, and print two copies.

Step 6:

After applicants submit their applications, Inner Mongolia Normal University will organize experts to review the application materials and conduct online interviews. Selected candidates will be shortlisted for pre-admission. The review results will be notified to applicants via email. Students who receive the pre-admission notice must promptly reply to confirm whether they accept the offer.

Step 7:

Inner Mongolia Normal University will recommend the pre-admitted candidates to the China Scholarship Council, which will then organize experts to review and determine the final list of admitted students.

VI. Application Timeline and Programs

1. Application Timeline: December 1, 2025, to March 1, 2026.

2. Programs:

Master’s Programs: Refer to the Inner Mongolia Normal University Master’s Program Catalog (see Attachment).

Doctoral Programs: Refer to the Inner Mongolia Normal University Doctoral Program Catalog (see Attachment).

VII. Admission and Enrollment

1. The Chinese Government Scholarship program is a free application program. The university does not charge any fees, nor has it entrusted any domestic or overseas institutions to conduct admissions on its behalf. Applicants must fill in and submit the application materials personally.

2.Chinese Government Scholarship recipients cannot concurrently receive funding from other scholarships established by the Chinese government at all levels or the admitting university (excluding various one-time awards). Violation of this rule will result in the cancellation of the Chinese Government Scholarship qualification, and the recipient must refund the scholarship already received. For those who intentionally conceal their funding status, in addition to disqualification, they will be ineligible to apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship for three years.

3. If falsification is found in the application materials, the scholarship qualification will be revoked. Those who fail to obtain the required graduation certificate on time or who fail the physical examination will have their admission qualification canceled.

4. Inner Mongolia Normal University will send the Admission Letter to the Chinese Government Scholarship recipients according to the final admission list. Admitted scholarship students should apply for a study visa to China at the Chinese embassy or consulate in their home country with a valid ordinary passport, the Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW201 Form), the Admission Notice, the original Foreigner Physical Examination Form, and the original copies of their highest diploma and academic transcripts.

5. Admitted students must register at Inner Mongolia Normal University strictly according to the time specified in the Admission Letter. Those who fail to complete the enrollment registration procedures for more than two weeks beyond the specified enrollment date will have their admission qualification canceled. During registration, please bring the original Admission Notice, JW201 Form, and other relevant documents provided during the application for a secondary review by the university.
